I entered this sweepstakes not expecting to win but to some miracle I had hit the jackpot! I couldn't stop squealing with joy! Not only did I get four tickets but I got not one but I got a dinner voucher for four at Wood & Vine and I got to stay at the W hotel!
The food was great! Their much raved about chicken and waffles was every bit delicious as they said it would be but my favorite would have to be the flat iron steak. It was tender and the potato puree had a sweetness to it that went well with the steak. My parents (whom I took) had the steamed mussels, which had a buttery deliciousness, and the pork chops. Then we each topped it off with our own butterscotch pot de creme for dessert. The portions weren't huge enough to share so we each got our own plates which was enough to keep our tummies full and happy. I give this place a 4/5 not because of the quality of the food but because of the fact that they forgot my order. When I finally received my dish everyone else was finished with their meals. if my dish wasn't so delicious I would've given them a lower rating. After we ate we trotted across the street to the theater.
I had been dying to watch this show since the last time that they were here in Los Angeles so it was a dream come true that I was able to go and share it with my loved ones. Without a doubt the show was AMAZINGGG!!! I laughed...A LOT, I cried, and I watched with awe as they executed their performances in perfect harmony. The two main actresses had such a great chemistry that it was fun to watch them play off of each other's energy. Glinda had perfect comedic timing and Elphaba showed a softer side of the wicked witch that made her relatable and likable. It was an interesting twist to one of my favorite childhood movies and by the end, it even had me totally siding with the Wicked Witch of the West. No need to rate this because there aren't enough numbers or stars that would give it justice. I think that everyone should watch this atleast once in their life.
The W was literally across the street from the Pantages so after the show, all we had to do was cross the street. This hotel was well secured, the elevators wouldn't even go up unless you put your room key into the card slot. The staff were friendly, the beds were incredibly comfortable, and I loved the fact that they had Bliss spa products for the rooms. They had everything from body lotion to face wash. I especially loved the safety box feature that was in the illuminated closet and the charging station on the desk was a lifesaver because I forgot to take my phone charger. They also had ipod docks and a dvd player so you could bring your own movies. Overall, I give this place a 5/5. If I had a choice, I would have never checked out.
I couldn't think of a better way to spend my birthday weekend than this! I don't get to experience a lot of things so this was such a special treat. It was a once in a lifetime experience that the four of us will never forget and I want to thank the wonderful people at Visit the Place once again for giving us this awesome experience.
