Newport Beach Film Festival - Bride Flight

Just returned home from my first experience at the Newport Beach Film Festival. Having never gone to any film festival before I did not know what to expect. Kelly (my love) and I went to see a movie titled ‘Bride Flight’ with our good friends the Salinger’s who had picked this movie out.

We all, and it seemed everyone else in the full house felt the same way, thought it an excellent movie. Again, that lesson in life about not having expectations I am sure played a part in it. This movie drew us in and held everyone until the closing scene. Outside, Lynda said ‘this was a great chick flick’ and I begged to differ with her as both Tom and I thought it a ‘guys’ movie every bit as much.

Bride Flight is a movie from the Netherlands with mostly subtitles. Usually, subtitles do not allow me to get really into a movie, but not this time. This is an emotionally gripping story about three women aboard the 1953 flight from London to Christchurch, New Zealand who are on their way to meet their husbands-to-be. While on board they meet a man who changes and ties their lives together forever.

I highly recommend this movie. If you are going to see it at the festival, it only plays again one time, Thursday, April 29th at 2:45 – Edwards Islands Cinema.
