Sunny day at Sol Cocina :: Champagne Brunch on the Bay

It’s been warm and sunny this winter, so I decided to indulge myself in a late breakfast on the bay. Typically when I stop into SOL Cocina, I am enjoying a plate of street tacos and a jalapeno cucumber margarita after a long day of work. On this occasion, I was planning to sit on the patio overlooking the water and enjoy a late-morning meal. Upon entry, I saw a welcoming sign that advertised the…See More

The Nutcracker Ballet: Celebrating the Spirit of the Season, Orange County- Style

‘Twas the midst of the holidays and the Chargers just lost,The rain was coming down and there was a rainy layer of frost. It was much to my surprise that I made it into the theater, My heart felt instant warmth from the array of candy canes and glitter. But really… it was a crumby day. The weather was cold and wet, I was running…See More

A Downtown Delightful Evening: Dinner at House of Blues and a Homecoming Concert by Matt Costa

I ventured out of my bubble for a little dinner and entertainment. I was expecting the evening to include some flavorful food, drinks and good music, but I wasn’t prepared for the level of greatness that I was about to encounter. The night started with a lively stroll along the Downtown Disney breezeway with festive melodies playing over the speakers and holiday lights twinkling above. I arrived at the…See More

Lots of Wine...Lots of the Time

I sell real estate during the day and dream of food all night long. Born and raised in the restaurant business, I live to eat. Orange County has a wide variety of primo places to dine, and I pride myself on experiencing each and every one of them! As a local girl, I enjoy knowing about all of the restaurants, the owners who manage them, the food they serve and the specials offered.
Most frequently, you’ll read about Happy Hours and Sunday Brunches, because these are my favorite times to sneak away and escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. On occasion, I will also tell you about new establishments or hole-in-the-wall venues that you might not normally know about. Sometimes the hidden gems of our locale are too good not to be shared.
Typically I stay in my bubble, also known as Newport Beach, but I will venture anywhere a good dish calls my name. Hold onto your knife and fork, because I plan to wine and dine you.

A Beautiful Buffet on the Bay

It’s mid-day on a sun-drenched Saturday and what other options do I have besides enjoying the view and feeding my insatiable need for good food!?!

I drove into the Newport Dunes with the other visitors that were hauling their boats and ready to launch their party into…

Sushi with a View :: Sashimi and Sake on the Bay

Along the coastal Riviera of Orange County, there are numerous eateries that boast waterfront dining. Some are laid back and casual, while others are known to be more formal. Most offer the typical seafood items, and a select few pride themselves on top grade fish that are served raw. Besides the bar area upstairs at The Cannery, Buddha’s Favorite is the only sushi bar that allows you to…
