I’m going with M St. on the Balboa Peninsula. Not a super kid friendly beach due to the steep beach face (water erosion) and pounding surf. However it’s beautiful and not crowded due to its location.

Whenever I meet someone from out-of-town and they're looking to watch some surfers, I send them to Surf City USA: Huntington Beach. You'll get great views from the sand, in the water, or from up on the Huntington Beach Pier. Plus there is SO much to do on Main Street in HB. You could easily spend all day down there, then keep it going into the night with a fire pit till 10pm during the summer :)

thousand step beach in south laguna is probably the best shore break beach with a lot of seclusion. the hardest part is the stairs but they really aren't that bad. in fact- i believe they are the one deterrent that keeps out the lazy. PCH and 9th street in Laguna Beach. Near South Coast Hospital.

Im definitely gonna have to check out this beach next time I'm in Orange County. It sounds beautiful.
