We've talked about favorite parks, and favorite beaches. We, however, haven't talked about favorite rides. It doesn't have to be a roller coaster, or a dark ride. It can even be something as simple as that beauty of a ferris wheel on the Santa Monica Pier. So, please, what's your favorite ride? Mine is a roller coaster. Tatsu at Six Flags Magic Mountain, to be exact. Nothing quite as awesome as that particular flying coaster.

@andy: what a great thread! i definitely don't have a simple answer. based on pure nostalgia, my sister and i always LOVED "the kingdom of the dinosaurs" at knott's berry farm in buena park when we were kids. i can't believe i just found this full ride through video! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NriQbh6nj4E).

but if i had to pick my favorite ride now, as an adult, it would be a toss up between two at disney's california adventure in anaheim: "the twilight zone tower of terror" (http://www.towerofterror.org/) with it's unpredictable drops and "toy story midway mania" (http://disneyland.disney.go.com/disneyland/en_US/parks/attractions/...) with its revolutionary 4D interactivity. i guess i just love anything that gets me screaming and laughing hysterically :)
I agree with all of this! :)

I looooooooooove the Tower of Terror. Such an awesome ride. I have yet to ride the Matterhorn at Disneyland, though. I hear it's great. Oh, and for those of us that don't mind becoming a wee bit moist, Splash Mountain is uberfun.
the matterhorn is really awesome for a vintage "coaster". it's definitely something my weak stomach can handle, even though it tosses you about like a sack of potatoes! and i forgot to even mention space mountain -- which is by far my favorite ride at good ol' disneyland.

I actually went on Space Mountain for the first time in February. It was cool, but I found it to be a little disorienting. I know it's for kids, but Buzz Lightyear's Astro Blasters is awesome.. Take that Emporer Zurg!

Andy I LOVE Astro Blasters! Have you made it over to DCA's Toy Story Mania yet? So much fun...

You know, I've tried and tried, but we (my fiancee and I) have never caught the line shorter than 2.5hrs. I really hope one day that I can ride it, but so far, no such luck.

really?! darn. i've definitely waited 45 minutes to an hour (which, in my humble opinion, IS worth it), but never 2.5 hours. i would try hitting it during one of the parades (or maybe during the new World of Color show...)

Haha I think during a parade will be hard. The fiancee loves watching the parades! If I see it under an hour, then you can bet your butt I'm gonna go in line...even if I have to carry her on my shoulder.
space mountain is perfection. during halloween they really dress it up too. everyone should check it out.
